Boston Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Boston Public Library was built in 1888 and is an excellent example of Renaissance Beaux-Arts Classicism. This colossal three-storey building was the forerunner of urban libraries built on the grand scale and has many other firsts to its credit. With a history of groundbreaking plans and ideas it was the first public library to lend a book, and the first with a Children’s Room, and the first municipal library in America to be publicly supported. The Boston Public Library has free Internet access and an on-line store of reproductions of valuable artworks and photographs.
A visit to the Boston Public Library is worth the trip, even if you don't read much, and as with everything in Boston, there will be something that will catch you interest. The welcoming Boston Hotels will ensure that you never want to leave.
