Manchester Sights, Sounds and Hotels
Castlefield, Britain’s first Urban Heritage Park, is also the place where the Roman fort, Mancestra, was built in AD79. The reconstructed remains of this fort can be seen at Heritage Park. The legacy of the Industrial era is also preserved and railway viaducts, canal systems and warehouses are part of the heritage of Manchester. The wonderful hands-on Museum of Science and Industry, housed in the first passenger train station in the world, is part of Castlefield and not to be missed. Boat trips, waterside pubs and many events in the Outdoor Arena provide entertainment.
Much of Manchester's industrial history and heritage is echoed in Manchester's Castlefield Basin, as well as many popular recreational facilties. The friendly Manchester hotels will welcome you and ensure that you return again.
